The Doily Duck's Top 3 Fashion Favorites: 2015 S.A.G. Awards

Last night's 21st annual Screen Actors Guild (S.A.G.) awards marked the red carpet midpoint for Hollywood's road to the Academy Awards in February.  Compared to last year's S.A.G. awards, it was a bit of an improvement in terms of the "wow" factor for red carpet fashion. The gentlemen definitely didn't disappoint on the red carpet more so than the ladies this year at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Once again, I've added my pick for "Hottest On-stage Couple of the Night" for my new sub-category this award season. So with no further ado, I present my top 3 fashion favorites for the 2015 S.A.G. Awards:

LADIES - Top 3

1. Lupita Nyong'o
Lupita Nyong'o took the top prize of the evening and looked absolutely radiant in her multi-colored Elie Saab gown. Her whole look from head to toe was strikingly modern yet vintage with long-sleeves, plunging neckline, and full pleated skirt. I loved the mix of floral print with vertical black stripes on her gown which made the most dramatic entrance on the red carpet.

In addition, to her perfect makeup and gorgeous braided hair, she wore quite the amazing collection of Fred Leighton jewels which included: black jade earrings, 2.5 carat cushion-cut diamond and onyx ring, Art Deco diamond and emerald ring, ancient garnet cameo and diamond ring.

2. Rosamund Pike
"Gone Girl" actress Rosamund Pike looked beautiful in her black hi-low haute couture A-line gown by Christian Dior. I loved the black floral embellishments and gorgeous detailed train of the dress and, most of all, I loved Rosamund's bright red lips which were the perfect touch to such a stunningly bold look!

3. Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston looked drop-dead sexy in her vintage, plunging gold gown by Galliano. In addition to her amazing cleavage-baring gown, she wore an Amrit long-link necklace that dangled dangerously between her cleavage down to her navel!

GENTLEMEN - Top 3

1. Kit Harington

Kit Harington looked tremendously hot in his Burberry suit and brooding glance!

2. Lenny Kravitz
Lenny Kravitz looks amazingly cool in just about anything including this all-black tuxedo and undershirt by Saint Laurent complete with a pair of shades.

3. Ethan Hawke
Ethan Hawke kept it interesting and wore a dark green Calvin Klein suit with peak lapels. I love when the gents' wear some other color besides the traditional black suit!

Hottest "On-Stage" Couple of the Night
After looking completely stunning in her red carpet look, Lupita took the stage with Jared Leto to present the award for Outstanding Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries. Together they were a sight for sore eyes and looked absolutely, adorably hot together even if they are not together! Their onstage chemistry together was through the roof! Lupita wore again her thick, black-framed glasses and Jared still embraced his long-flowy ombré hair. Jared definitely couldn't help stare at the beautiful Lupita.

…that stare...

 …and that embrace!

And there you have it…my red carpet fashion favorites for this year's S.A.G. Awards! In a few weeks, I am very much looking forward to the much-hailed red carpet fashion of the Academy Awards. I hope to see some amazingly diverse fashion (unlike the Oscar nominations this year)! In addition, I can't wait to see who will be crowned Best Dressed Duck and Drake for the 3rd Annual Golden Doily Duck Award exclusively for the Academy Awards.

So, which star had your favorite look from the 2015 S.A.G. Awards?

My Latest Paper Doll Projects

Lately, I haven't had much free time to work on any new paper dolls for my Etsy shop. It does burden me a bit that my shop has sat empty for quite some time but family time comes first and always will. In addition, there's no reason to rush because when the time is right, it will happen!

However, I did actually find some time to make paper dolls for a couple of custom orders. My first custom project was for a customer who wanted mermen paper dolls for her seaside cottage in Puerto Rico. I haven't made many mermen paper dolls so luckily the few I have made served as my inspirations as well as pictures seen of the pretty seaside cottage.

I decided to make a trio of mermen paper dolls for her cottage. All three mermen were brought to life starting with my stamps from Catherine Moore's Character Constructions (which I love dearly) and in the end they each came out with their own personal style.

The second custom project involved creating paper dolls based on the characters Elsa and Anna from Disney's animated film "Frozen". I actually had two separate orders from two  customers to make Elsa and Anna paper dolls. So I decided to make both pairs together using my Bebe Paper Doll as the base for each doll.

It was fun creating Elsa- and Anna-inspired paper dolls especially knowing how the movie and its characters are so immensely popular. I always find it quite challenging making paper dolls that are "re-creations" of mainstream characters due to the fact that my freedom of creativity is a bit constrained. However that challenge is what drives me to not only make Elsa and Anna paper dolls but to create Elsa and Anna paper dolls with my own unique and personal touch!

The Inspiration: Elsa and Anna of Disney's "Frozen"

As of now, I am working on one more custom project for a friend's baby room. Her daughter's room is ocean-themed so I am making a couple of mermaid paper dolls to add to the decor. After this project, I promised myself I will not take any more requests for custom orders until after I make lots and lots more paper dolls for my Etsy shop!

Thanks for being here!
