The Doily Duck's Top 3 Fashion Favorites: 2016 Golden Globes

The season for glamorous dresses and dapper suits has begun! The Golden Globes' red carpet is the year's first big show of Hollywood fashion glitz and it's the perfect setting where stars from both film and television gather for one big soirée and look fabulous!

I have to say that Sunday evening's Golden Globes really didn't set my fashion loins ablaze. Compared to last year's Golden Globes red carpet fashion, this year's fashion choices were utterly unimpressive. There was clearly a shortage of distinctive, jaw-dropping, wow-factor fashion especially for the ladies. Even the gentlemen's shoes worn at this award event were more exciting than most of the dresses worn by the ladies. Props to off-beat shoe wears like Denis O'Hare's Christian Louboutin's platform heels, Jason Sudekis's black and white Air Jordan 11 sneakers, and the "sock-less" Wiz Khalifa and Bryshere Gray's loafers.

But, alas, there were some notable runway hits that made The Doily Duck's top fashion picks. And here are my fashion favorites for both ladies and gentlemen for the 2016 Golden Globes:

LADIES - Top 3

1. Jane Wu
Actress Jane Wu was an absolute red carpet stunner in her metallic silver embroidered THEIA gown. Her body skimming, sequined detailed dress fit her perfectly like her own personal knight's armor! Moreover, her sleek pony tail and gorgeous matching clutch completed this classic silhouetted look.

2. Kate Bosworth

I loved Kate Bosworth's floor-length strapless pink sequined Dolce & Gabbana gown! The pink shimmering discs were beautiful especially when she gave the dress a whirl! And her Norman Silverman diamond earrings were gorgeous!

3. Alicia Vikander
Actress Alicia Vikander got my vote for most effortless glamour! Her ethereal, white pleated dress with short ruffle neck and bib-style front was simply elegant. I also loved Alicia's subtle detail accents like the crossed-at-back, sparkly droplet earrings, and hint of glittery eye shadow. But most of all, she brought her best accessory to the awards show, her date, Michael Fassbender!

Honorable Mention: Olivia Palermo
Socialite Olivia Palermo had the most playful and bold look of the evening. She wore a Delpozo cocktail dress with color-block printing, gorgeous gold leaf choker necklace, and two-toned ankle strap pumps. She was one of the few ladies to wear a short dress with pockets!!!

GENTLEMEN - Top 3

1. Oscar Isaac
Oscar Isaac was hands down the best dressed gentlemen at this year's Golden Globes! He looked handsome in his perfectly tailored custom tuxedo from Rag & Bone. That smile, that beard, that smolder...just oozes charm! And he won Best Actor for HBO's "Show Me a Hero", congratulations Oscar!

 2. Ryan Gosling
What can I say, Ryan Gosling looks gorgeous in anything! He looked especially handsome in his white tuxedo jacket, black bow tie, and black suit pants!

3. Eddie Redmayne
Eddie Redmayne is the master at wearing distinctive men's wear! I loved his midnight blue two-button jacquard Gucci tux jacket dotted with bee embellishments.

Honorable Mention: Morgan Freeman
Morgan Freeman looked amazing in his all-black suit and bowtie! Most of all, I loved that he wore a turquoise, red, and white beaded Native American heishi necklace that totally popped with color! It was hands-down the best accessory of the night - such a beautiful and elegant choice.

Hottest "On-Stage" Couple of the Night

I don't think I am alone by picking Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt as my choice for "Hottest On-Stage Couple" of the night. Not only did they both look hot, they were quite the comedic duo on-stage as they introduced their film "The Big Short". Be still my beating heart!

And that concludes The Doily Duck's top fashion favorites for the 2016 Golden Globes! Now onward to the Screen Actors Guild Awards at the end of this month!

The Doily Duck's Top 3 Fashion Favorites: 2015 Academy Awards

Finally, it's red carpet time for Hollywood's biggest fashion event of the year, the 87th Academy Awards! And the red carpet definitely did not disappoint for this star-studded night! One thing, for sure, white dresses were white hot at this year's Oscar red carpet and no one wore it quite like my #1 fashion favorite of the night! For both the ladies and the gentlemen, there were a handful of very unconventional choices for dresses and suits. I definitely appreciate the risk-taking for the film industry's most glamorous night!

And, once again, just for the Oscars, I will honor my favorite dressed lady and gentleman with the 3rd Annual Golden Doily Duck award where they will be crowned "Best Dressed Duck" and "Best Dressed Drake", respectively! These celebrities will earn their place in Doily Duck fashion history thanks to their choice of wardrobe ensemble for the Academy Awards!

So, let's waste no more time, and get right to my top fashion favorites for the 2015 Academy Awards:

LADIES - RunnerUps

3. Behati Prinsloo
Victoria's Secret model, Behati Prinsloo, looked stunning in her beautiful two-piece red Armani Privé couture gown. I loved all the layered red and black beading on her bustier and skirt which also was layered with a bit of black veiling tulle. I also loved her bold black beaded necklace and earrings, as well as her sleek knotted pulled-back, center-parted hair, which complemented her entire look!

2. Emma Stone
Emma Stone looked amazingly fantastic in her glittery long-sleeve beaded, floor-length chartreuse custom gown by Elie Saab. She came very close to being my #1 fashion favorite this year. She not only wowed on the red carpet with her backless, high slit dress but Emma also exuded pure classic Hollywood glamour by just looking simply effortless!

Honorable Mention: Marion Cotillard
Marion Cotillard earned an honorable mention for walking down the red carpet in her white Dior eyelet dress with a modern black bustle at the back. She looked like an exquisite little piece of couture sushi!

Honorable Mention: Naomi Watts

Naomi Watt's cool, daring tube-top, graphic cut-out Armani Privé dress shimmered with silvery and black beads.

Honorable Mention: Margot Robbie's Necklace
Margot Robbie's diamond, sapphire, and beaded blue tassel necklace by Van Cleef & Aprels was absolutely gorgeous! It was the perfect statement necklace to her sexy, black Saint Laurent gown.

GENTLEMEN - RunnerUps

3. Jared Leto
Only Jared Leto could pull off this lavender Givenchy suit complete with white shoes and his signature long, ombré locks! Bravo for unconventional!

2. David Oyelowo

David Oyelowo totally stood out among the sea of suits on the red carpet! I loved his crimson wine-colored Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo…such a bold choice and the fit was perfect!

And now I present to you the winners of the 3rd Annual Golden Doily Duck:

The Golden Doily Duck

BEST DRESSED DUCK

1. Lupita Nyong'o

Oh My God! Lupita Nyong'o looked amazingly elegant and absolutely stunning in her white-and-ivory custom pearl gown by Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein Collection. Her dress was studded with about 6,000 pearls and crystals! In addition, she kept it simple with minimal make-up and dazzling Chopard diamond drop earrings. Her open-back dress was unexpected in every way and I just love how Lupita is never afraid to wear the unexpected! I suppose it really is hard for her not to look good in just about anything - she is an absolute beauty!

BEST DRESSED DRAKE

1. Chris Evans
Chris Evans looked classic and sleek in his black perfectly-tailored Gucci tuxedo. And I loved his perfectly-trim beard…I am a sucker for a perfect beard especially on Captain America!

Congratulations to Lupita Nyong'o and Chris Evans for being crowned "Best Dressed Duck" and "Best Dressed Drake" for the 2015 Golden Doily Duck award! They now join 2013 Golden Doily Duck winners, Naomi Watts and Eddie Redmayne, and 2014 Golden Doily Duck winners, Charlize Theron and Jared Leto, as my top fashion favorites for the Academy Awards!

Oh, and I can't forget my pick for "Hottest On-Stage Couple of the Night"...

HOTTEST "ON-STAGE" COUPLE OF THE NIGHT

Idris Elba and Jessica Chastain
Idris Elba, with his sexy voice, and Jessica Chastain, with her noteworthy cleavage nestled in her dark blue Givenchy dress, presented the award for Best Cinematography and they were my pick for "Hottest On-Stage Couple of the Night"! They even took a back-stage selfie together during the ceremony!

Congrats to Idris and Jessica!

And that concludes The Doily Duck's fashion favorites for the 2015 Academy Awards!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Doily Duck's Top 3 Fashion Favorites: 2015 S.A.G. Awards

Last night's 21st annual Screen Actors Guild (S.A.G.) awards marked the red carpet midpoint for Hollywood's road to the Academy Awards in February.  Compared to last year's S.A.G. awards, it was a bit of an improvement in terms of the "wow" factor for red carpet fashion. The gentlemen definitely didn't disappoint on the red carpet more so than the ladies this year at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Once again, I've added my pick for "Hottest On-stage Couple of the Night" for my new sub-category this award season. So with no further ado, I present my top 3 fashion favorites for the 2015 S.A.G. Awards:

LADIES - Top 3

1. Lupita Nyong'o
Lupita Nyong'o took the top prize of the evening and looked absolutely radiant in her multi-colored Elie Saab gown. Her whole look from head to toe was strikingly modern yet vintage with long-sleeves, plunging neckline, and full pleated skirt. I loved the mix of floral print with vertical black stripes on her gown which made the most dramatic entrance on the red carpet.

In addition, to her perfect makeup and gorgeous braided hair, she wore quite the amazing collection of Fred Leighton jewels which included: black jade earrings, 2.5 carat cushion-cut diamond and onyx ring, Art Deco diamond and emerald ring, ancient garnet cameo and diamond ring.

2. Rosamund Pike
"Gone Girl" actress Rosamund Pike looked beautiful in her black hi-low haute couture A-line gown by Christian Dior. I loved the black floral embellishments and gorgeous detailed train of the dress and, most of all, I loved Rosamund's bright red lips which were the perfect touch to such a stunningly bold look!

3. Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston looked drop-dead sexy in her vintage, plunging gold gown by Galliano. In addition to her amazing cleavage-baring gown, she wore an Amrit long-link necklace that dangled dangerously between her cleavage down to her navel!

GENTLEMEN - Top 3

1. Kit Harington

Kit Harington looked tremendously hot in his Burberry suit and brooding glance!

2. Lenny Kravitz
Lenny Kravitz looks amazingly cool in just about anything including this all-black tuxedo and undershirt by Saint Laurent complete with a pair of shades.

3. Ethan Hawke
Ethan Hawke kept it interesting and wore a dark green Calvin Klein suit with peak lapels. I love when the gents' wear some other color besides the traditional black suit!

Hottest "On-Stage" Couple of the Night
After looking completely stunning in her red carpet look, Lupita took the stage with Jared Leto to present the award for Outstanding Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries. Together they were a sight for sore eyes and looked absolutely, adorably hot together even if they are not together! Their onstage chemistry together was through the roof! Lupita wore again her thick, black-framed glasses and Jared still embraced his long-flowy ombré hair. Jared definitely couldn't help stare at the beautiful Lupita.

…that stare...

And there you have it…my red carpet fashion favorites for this year's S.A.G. Awards! In a few weeks, I am very much looking forward to the much-hailed red carpet fashion of the Academy Awards. I hope to see some amazingly diverse fashion (unlike the Oscar nominations this year)! In addition, I can't wait to see who will be crowned Best Dressed Duck and Drake for the 3rd Annual Golden Doily Duck Award exclusively for the Academy Awards.

So, which star had your favorite look from the 2015 S.A.G. Awards?

The Doily Duck's Top 3 Fashion Favorites: 2014 S.A.G. Awards

Just one week after the 2014 Golden Globes, the red carpet is back in the spotlight with the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Guild Awards. And quite honestly, compared to last year's SAG Awards, I was very disappointed with the majority of the red carpet fashion.  But alas, I did find my favorite gems amongst the pebbles!

Here are my favorite fashion picks of the 2014 SAG Awards:

LADIES - Top 3

1. Lupita Nyong'o
And here she is again looking absolutely gorgeous! Lupita Nyong'o was my knight in shining armor of the evening! She wore a bright turquoise silk crepe Gucci column gown with a stunning floral embellished neckline. The turquoise color was just amazing and fresh! I loved her subtle hint of blue eyeshadow too!

2. Dame Helen Mirren
In love with Dame Helen Mirren and her Escada dress! At age 68, Helen showed up women half her age and looked totally hot in her long-sleeved gold embellished black dress. Her whole look was beautiful especially the unique beading and embroidery of the dress and her Neil Lane statement earrings.

3. Michelle Dockery
'Downton Abbey' actress Michelle Dockery has yet to disappoint me at the SAG Awards! Michelle wore a bold and striking black & white tuxedo-inspired dress by J. Mendel. She looked amazing with the plunging neckline and the slit up the front of the dress. Plus I loved her matching Gianvito Rossi heels!

GENTLEMEN - Top 3

1. Kit Harington
Actor Kit Harington looks good in just about anything! Oh, and he is wearing a Z Zegna black suit.

2. Jared Leto
I thought Jared Leto looked pretty damn good in his Dior tuxedo. I didn't mind his long 'Tristan-esque' hair and beard and I loved his black polka dot pocket square and Harry Winston watch. But his best accessory of the night was his gorgeous silver maned mother, Constance.

3. Benedict Cumberbatch
And yes, the well-dressed Benedict Cumberbatch. He knows how to wear a classic suit to a tee!

I hope you enjoyed my red carpet fashion favorites for this year's SAG Awards! And I am so looking forward to the mother-of-all-red carpet fashion - the Academy Awards. Moreover, I can't wait to see who will win the 2nd Annual Golden Doily Duck Award for Best Dressed Duck and Drake exclusively for the Academy Awards!

Which were your favorite looks of the night?
