The Doily Duck's Top 3 Fashion Favorites: 2016 Golden Globes

The season for glamorous dresses and dapper suits has begun! The Golden Globes' red carpet is the year's first big show of Hollywood fashion glitz and it's the perfect setting where stars from both film and television gather for one big soirĂ©e and look fabulous!

I have to say that Sunday evening's Golden Globes really didn't set my fashion loins ablaze. Compared to last year's Golden Globes red carpet fashion, this year's fashion choices were utterly unimpressive. There was clearly a shortage of distinctive, jaw-dropping, wow-factor fashion especially for the ladies. Even the gentlemen's shoes worn at this award event were more exciting than most of the dresses worn by the ladies. Props to off-beat shoe wears like Denis O'Hare's Christian Louboutin's platform heels, Jason Sudekis's black and white Air Jordan 11 sneakers, and the "sock-less" Wiz Khalifa and Bryshere Gray's loafers.

But, alas, there were some notable runway hits that made The Doily Duck's top fashion picks. And here are my fashion favorites for both ladies and gentlemen for the 2016 Golden Globes:

LADIES - Top 3

1. Jane Wu
Actress Jane Wu was an absolute red carpet stunner in her metallic silver embroidered THEIA gown. Her body skimming, sequined detailed dress fit her perfectly like her own personal knight's armor! Moreover, her sleek pony tail and gorgeous matching clutch completed this classic silhouetted look.

2. Kate Bosworth

I loved Kate Bosworth's floor-length strapless pink sequined Dolce & Gabbana gown! The pink shimmering discs were beautiful especially when she gave the dress a whirl! And her Norman Silverman diamond earrings were gorgeous!

3. Alicia Vikander
Actress Alicia Vikander got my vote for most effortless glamour! Her ethereal, white pleated dress with short ruffle neck and bib-style front was simply elegant. I also loved Alicia's subtle detail accents like the crossed-at-back, sparkly droplet earrings, and hint of glittery eye shadow. But most of all, she brought her best accessory to the awards show, her date, Michael Fassbender!

Honorable Mention: Olivia Palermo
Socialite Olivia Palermo had the most playful and bold look of the evening. She wore a Delpozo cocktail dress with color-block printing, gorgeous gold leaf choker necklace, and two-toned ankle strap pumps. She was one of the few ladies to wear a short dress with pockets!!!

GENTLEMEN - Top 3

1. Oscar Isaac
Oscar Isaac was hands down the best dressed gentlemen at this year's Golden Globes! He looked handsome in his perfectly tailored custom tuxedo from Rag & Bone. That smile, that beard, that smolder...just oozes charm! And he won Best Actor for HBO's "Show Me a Hero", congratulations Oscar!

 2. Ryan Gosling
What can I say, Ryan Gosling looks gorgeous in anything! He looked especially handsome in his white tuxedo jacket, black bow tie, and black suit pants!

3. Eddie Redmayne
Eddie Redmayne is the master at wearing distinctive men's wear! I loved his midnight blue two-button jacquard Gucci tux jacket dotted with bee embellishments.

Honorable Mention: Morgan Freeman
Morgan Freeman looked amazing in his all-black suit and bowtie! Most of all, I loved that he wore a turquoise, red, and white beaded Native American heishi necklace that totally popped with color! It was hands-down the best accessory of the night - such a beautiful and elegant choice.

Hottest "On-Stage" Couple of the Night

I don't think I am alone by picking Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt as my choice for "Hottest On-Stage Couple" of the night. Not only did they both look hot, they were quite the comedic duo on-stage as they introduced their film "The Big Short". Be still my beating heart!

And that concludes The Doily Duck's top fashion favorites for the 2016 Golden Globes! Now onward to the Screen Actors Guild Awards at the end of this month!

The Doily Duck's Top 3 Fashion Favorites: 2013 Academy Awards

First came the Golden Globes, then came the S.A.G. Awards. Now it's finally time for the grand finale of the red carpet award season, Hollywood's glitziest night, the Academy Awards! I was quite impressed with a handful of the ladies and gentlemen's fashions. However, I didn't care much for the full, flowy, and princessy type gowns (sorry Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence) but I did love the amount of facial hair present on quite the number of the men (Ben Affleck, George Clooney, Jean Dujardin, etc)! What can I say...I'm a sucker for men with well-groomed and grown beards!

So starting with this Academy Awards, I've created a special award, the Golden Doily Duck, for my #1 Fashion Favorites for both Ladies and Gentlemen. The top favorite lady will be crowned 'Best Dressed Duck' and the top favorite gentleman will be crowned 'Best Dressed Drake'!

And here are my top fashion favorites of Oscars 2013:

LADIES - RunnerUps

3. Samantha Barks
British singer and actress Samantha Barks looked effortlessly sexy in her classic Valentino LBD with deep plunging v-neckline. In addition, that necklace of hers was absolutely stunning!

2. Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington looked beautiful in her strapless coral gown by Miu Miu. I loved her embellished, glittering top with Swarovski crystals paired with belted long, solid bottom gown. Kerry was so fashionably detailed with her entire look from her middle-part hairstyle, soft and simple make-up, to her gorgeous Chopard jewelry. She is definitely becoming one of my favorites on the Red Carpet events.

GENTLEMEN - RunnerUps

3. Chris Evans
Chris Evans looked absolutely handsome in his classic Gucci suit and sexy beard.

2. Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper looked exceptionally sharp in his three-piece Tom Ford tuxedo with extra wide lapel. I also dug his slicked back hair and complementary beard! But most of all, I thought there was nothing more fashionable than bringing your mom as your date to the Oscars. Bradley's mom, Gloria, looked so cute with her feather shawl and was beaming with pride to be there with her son.

And now I present to you the winners of the 1st Annual Golden Doily Duck:

The Golden Doily Duck

BEST DRESSED DUCK

1. Naomi Watts
Naomi Watts was the standalone fashion queen for the evening! She exuded pure glamour and dazzled in her metallic sequined Giorgio Armani Prive gown. I just absolutely loved the whole look on Naomi and that cut out design on the left side was dangerously unique and sexy! Even her beau Liev Schreiber could not keep his eyes off of her. She totally rocked it!

BEST DRESSED DRAKE

1. Eddie Redmayne
Actor Eddie Redmayne was definitely the King of the Red Carpet. Skipping his signature velvet suits, Eddie looked sharp in his Alexander McQueen classic black tuxedo with peak lapels. He is hands down the master of wearing the perfectly tailored slim fit suit. Just dashing!

And that concludes this year's red carpet award season! It's been fashionably fun and I can't wait to see what next year's Hollywood award season has in store for fashion fans like me to oohh and aaww over! Of course, if Naomi or Eddie would like to claim their Golden Doily Duck awards, I would be more than happy to send it to them ;-)

Thanks for being here!

The Doily Duck's Top 3 Fashion Favorites: 2013 S.A.G. Awards

The 2013 Golden Globes earlier this month gave us the first round of gorgeous gowns and dapper suits for this award season and of course my Top 3 Fashion Favorites of the night! So, last night, the 19th Annual Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) Awards provided an excellent red carpet fashion midpoint in Hollywood's road to the Oscars.

Here are my Top 3 Fashion Favorites of the 2013 SAG Awards for the ladies and gentlemen:

LADIES - Top 3

 1. Rose Byrne
I absolutely loved Rose Byrne's floral and ruffled printed dress by Valentino. With the oversized ruffles as well as the pastel pink and blue hues, her dress felt airy, whimsical, and very romantic. And that baby blue belt, pink lipstick, Jimmy Choo clutch, and gorgeous Van Cleef & Arpels ring were such great highlights to the overall look. (Photo: Getty)

2. Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington looked stunning in her white strapless Rodarte gown. I loved her structured embellished corset bodice as well as her full, flowy skirt with silver beads at the bottom. Kerry's diamond jewelry by Fred Leighton sparkled perfectly with her gown and thought her side swept hair with ponytail was an unexpected casual touch to her otherwise glamorous look. (Photo: Getty)

3. Michelle Dockery
Michelle Dockery looked ravishing in this floor length, black vintage Chado Ralph Rucci dress. Even with the dress's revealing, sheer cutouts along the sides, I thought the dress looked very elegant. Also, I loved her pretty bob styled hair and beautiful jewelry by Bulgari. (Photo: Getty)

GENTLEMEN - Top 3

1. Justin Timberlake

Justin pulled it all out for menswear on the red carpet and had the stand-out suit of the night. He wore a grey and brown checked wool Tom Ford suit, pastel brown gingham shirt, brown and white silk pocket square, and a textured tie. In addition, Justin rocked a very 1920s-Gatsby side part hair style. (Photo: Getty)

2. Eddie Redmayne
British actor Eddie Redmayne wore an offbeat yet bold dark brown velvet tuxedo suit by Hugo Boss with black tie. I love brown suits! (Photo: Getty)

 3. James Marsden
James looked vintage Hollywood with his loose-fit black tuxedo. (Photo: Getty)

With the Golden Globes and now the SAG Awards behind us, there's only the Oscars left to be dazzled by! I can't wait to seeing what everyone will be wearing for Hollywood's biggest night of the year! And most of all, I look forward to giving my 1st Annual Golden Doily Duck awards to the Best Dressed Duck and Drake of Oscar night!

So, who were your favorites of the night?
